You made it.

If you've been wondering whether I was ever going to sing on my own record...

Here's your answer.

Let's just say I never had any illusions about becoming the lead singer.

That's why I surrounded myself with people who could.

But this song was different.

I couldn't ask someone else to sing about my family.

Not when the song belonged to them.

So, I stepped up to the microphone, took a deep breath and did the only thing I could do.

I sang it.

Half of it is even acappella, which probably says something about either courage or questionable judgment.

I'll let you decide.

The birds you hear aren't sound effects.

They're the real birds outside our home.

Scott Spick makes one final appearance, this time playing muted trumpet and piano with the same taste and grace he brought earlier in the record.

And those little voices singing in the choruses?

Those belong to my kids A&Z. My heart and soul.

No session singers.

No tricks.

Just family.

Which seems like the only way this story could possibly end.
