When I wrote this song more than twenty years ago, nobody was throwing the term "Yacht Rock" around. I was just writing songs I liked.
Looking back, though...yeah...he's probably got a captain's hat somewhere.
This one is about something we all hope happens eventually: love showing back up after taking the scenic route. Our guy has been around the block a few times. Maybe too many. Then life decides to hand him another shot.
Billy understood this song from the very beginning. He didn't just sing it—he settled into it, like he'd lived there before.
Call it Yacht Rock. Call it blue-eyed soul. Call it pop.
