Full Story

Long before San Diego became home, it became inspiration.

I wrote Sometime while visiting here years before I packed up my life and moved west. I was sitting on the balcony of the Surfer Beach Hotel in Pacific Beach watching the red sun disappear into the Pacific.

Funny how certain places refuse to let go of you.

Even now, whenever I walk or jog past that hotel, I still glance up at that same balcony.

The song is still sitting there.

As far as voices go, Samuel Donovan makes his first appearance on Chapters, while Kathleen Delaney takes a lead spot as well. It’s only fitting as she helped shape my musical confidence decades ago back in Brooklyn.

Those kinds of people never really leave your story.

When Sam and Kathleen sing together, it feels less like a duet and more like two old friends finishing each other's sentences.

Chris Johnson returns, this time trading Hammond organ for a beautifully expressive cello performance. I warned you earlier...I have some incredibly talented friends.

Some songs take you someplace.

This one always takes me home. Both homes- Brooklyn and San Diego.

LYRICS: CHAPTER XII

Sometime

Take me to the land of sometime

So I can watch the red sun glow

Follow your mind to sometime

A picture that I won't let go

In colored sky of blue and white

The warm sunshine it fills my eyes

With you and me and our sometime

It gives us a place to be

A distant cry from far away

A closer glimpse of yesterday

To say all that there is to say

Or, need not say at all

Lessons learned of yesteryear

To push away, dissolve the fear

Return or stay, I keep you near

You're the spirit of my love

Take me to the land of sometime

So I can watch the red sun glow

Follow your mind to sometime

A picture that I won't let go

Take me to the land

Take me to the land

Take me to the land

Take me to the land

Take me to the land

Of  sometime
