Every songwriter goes through dry spells.

Mine lasted about four years.

After I wrote the music for what would turn out to be Start Anew, the well just stopped. Whether life got in the way or the songs simply decided to take a vacation, I don't know. I just remember wondering if another one would ever show up.

After much overthinking, Thinking arrived.

Sometimes all it takes is one song to remind you that you haven't forgotten how to write—you were just waiting for the next knock at the door.

Scott Spick was there from the beginning. He recorded the original demo years ago and when it came time to finally make Chapters, there was never any question who should sing it. Some voices simply belong to certain songs.

Scott has one of those voices.
